Sheriff Jim Heflin told the commissioners the jail population was 59 inmates on Oct. 21 and described a series of maintenance projects planned for the facility. "Reported that the jail currently has 59 inmates," the minutes state.
Heflin said crews expect to finish plumbing this week and then move on to drywall inside the cell blocks; painting and carpet replacement are the next projects following those repairs. No budget amounts or contractor names for the work were included in the meeting record.
