Highway updates: Community Crossing grant completed (owing $18,804.16), Title VI/ADA plan approved, Mohee bridge reopens

Highway Superintendent John Pluimer told commissioners the Community Crossing Grant project is complete; after expenses the county will owe the state $18,804.16. Commissioner Dan Borgenheimer moved to accept completion of the grant with that balance and Commissioner Laura Coons seconded; the board voted 3‑0 to approve the completion.
Pluimer also presented a Title VI/ADA plan required for compliance with a federal bridge grant and said the plan had been presented to county attorney Jim Forcum; the commissioners approved the plan 3‑0. Separately, Pluimer reported that the Mohee bridge reconstruction is finished and the bridge is now open to traffic.
In related highway business, the county reached an agreement with Norfolk Southern for three closed crossings (600 N, 400 E and 500 N) whereby Norfolk Southern will reposition barricades perpendicular to the road and install signage; commissioners approved a grant to reimburse County Highway for expenses from that work.
