Commissioners form Wind & Solar ordinance committee amid public questions on recycling and landowner sign-ups

Commissioner Dan Borgenheimer moved to establish a committee to update the county Wind & Solar ordinance; the motion was seconded by Commissioner Laura Coons and passed 3–0. Separately, the board approved upgrades to roads in Jackson and Licking Townships by Leeward Wind from intersection to intersection (vote 3–0), tying roadwork to a named developer.
Public comment during the Oct. 7 meeting included questions and concerns about renewable-energy projects. Attendee Libby (Elizabeth Ball) Tyra asked how wind turbines are recycled and where recycling centers are located. Deb Grider provided information about how many landowners had signed up for wind and solar projects. Warren Brown, BCEDC executive director, said he had received documents from EDPR about wind and solar projects and had forwarded them to Rick Hall; he indicated an executive session would be scheduled after review of those materials.
