The Blackford County Commissioners approved multiple highway-related actions on Oct. 7. They approved an INDOT contract designating 300 W and 600 N as an unofficial detour for the closing of State Road 18 (motion by Dan Borgenheimer; second by Laura Coons; vote 3–0). The board also accepted a Holley Sales Inc. quote of $35,939.26 for a salt truck after receiving a competing quote of $38,822 from Clark Truck Equipment Co., Inc.
Commissioners additionally authorized Highway Superintendent John Pluimer to pursue the purchase of a Dodge Ram 2500 located in Indianapolis, asking $36,000, contingent on negotiating the price to $34,000; that authorization was approved 3–0. Pluimer also presented documentation (photos and videos) of a contractor, Pro Concrete, using foam to level a bridge on 900 E; that item was presented for information and no formal action was recorded in the minutes.
