"We're paying for the new substation and transmission infrastructure ourselves, dollar for dollar," Collard said.
Bill Hannah, who has been working with Compass locally, described the Meridian campus as an eight‑building, multi‑year buildout with one building planned to become operational about every six months; Compass sells or leases buildings to hyperscalers and, in Meridian, Meta is a disclosed customer. Compass and local partners are launching training programs with Meridian Community College and Texas State Technical College to staff operations and supplier roles.
Compass representatives emphasized closed‑loop cooling (no city water for cooling at their campuses), acoustic mitigation, and local infrastructure investments; the company also urged municipalities to use a developer checklist to vet land flippers and short‑term spec builders.
