West Wendover dispatch seeks parity with Elko equipment to ensure mutual operation

Chief Brad Hillaker reported that West Wendover dispatch has been working to align its equipment with Elko County’s system and that his lead dispatcher completed a video demo of priority dispatch that showed value in mirroring Elko’s setup.
“Basically, what we're trying to do is mirror what Elko dispatch has as far as equipment wise,” Chief Hillaker said, describing visits his team made to Elko’s dispatch center to review equipment and operations. He said West Wendover would like to obtain similar consoles and systems so either center could operate seamlessly if one were affected.
The board invited West Wendover to submit formal project requests and quotes for review and recommended using grants, E911 funds or county capital funds where appropriate. No formal funding decision was made; staff encouraged agencies to bring specific needs and quotes to the board for consideration.
