Johns Creek council narrows park name to 'Town Center Boardwalk' and asks staff for sign mock-ups

Council members signaled near-consensus for a boardwalk-themed name for the new park behind City Hall, saying the elevated walkway and overlook decks make a "boardwalk" label distinctive. Director Matson had reminded the council that the body previously agreed that "Town Center" should remain part of the name and returned with options that combined that phrase with other descriptors.

Director Matson said the staff memo presented several formulations and asked the council to pick the combination they preferred. "So I heard the Boardwalk At Town Center," Matson said as he summarized council direction; staff agreed to prepare visual mock-ups and signage options to return for final review. Several council members urged communications staff be consulted early so the final word order and spacing work on promotional materials.

Councilmembers also discussed shorthand and branding (several used the acronym "TCB" during the discussion) and asked staff to bring back designs that show how each name would appear on physical signs and in digital outreach. The council did not adopt a formal ordinance this session; the matter will return with mock-ups and a final recommendation before summer sign production.
