County tentatively selects Everest after insurance renewal quotes

Jeff Hubbard, Human Resources, reported Sept. 2 that the county received 18 quotes for insurance renewal. He said many carriers declined; Zurich, the incumbent, proposed an 8% increase while "a quote from Everest came in at 4.5%." Commissioners, with Commissioner Storey and Councilman Nolting present at the prior review meeting, tentatively approved the Everest quote by motion and a three-to-zero vote. Hubbard told the board he did not foresee premium increases for employees next year.
Minutes do not include the complete proposal materials, the scope of coverage changes, or effective dates for a carrier switch. The motion recorded on Sept. 2 was a tentative approval pending any final underwriting or administrative steps.
