Commissioner Ron Turpin reported county payments of roughly $8 million for jail construction in February and said bond proceeds are now about $91 million. He said the project has earned about $7.5 million in interest income to date and that the county remains "on time and under budget" relative to an earlier $305 million target. "Right now, we are below that number, and we are on schedule. Completion date is looking at December of next year, 2027," Turpin said.
Turpin added the county produces monthly drone footage updates and will provide facility tours as construction progresses. Council did not take additional action; Turpin framed the update as informational and said financing and construction oversight will continue through project completion.
