Office for the Aging reports 65,317 meals served in 2025; director elected to state board
Summary
Cayuga County’s Office for the Aging told the Health & Human Services Committee it served 65,317 meals to 473 people in 2025 and that its director was elected to the New York State Association on Aging board; the report also listed other program metrics and staffing updates.
Brenda Wiemann, director of the Office for the Aging, reported program metrics and staffing developments to the committee.
"The Senior Nutrition Program served 65,317 meals to 473 people in 2025," Wiemann reported, and she added that the Caregiver program provided over 500 hours of respite last year. She also said the HIICAP program assisted 913 people in 2025 and that GoGo transportation provided 585 rides over the last 17 months.
Wiemann told the committee the OFA director met with the Finance Director, Budget Director and Operations Officer on Dec. 2 about a Jr. Accountant vacancy and that she was elected to the New York State Association on Aging Board of Directors. She also reported giving a presentation on senior needs to the Auburn Rotary on Jan. 6, 2026.
The committee approved multiple OFA-related resolutions later in the meeting, including authorization to create a Jr. Accountant position, renew meal-service contracts, and approve non-medical transportation contracts.
