Transportation Supervisor Jack Denison briefed the board on staffing and fleet operations, saying the district has hired two new drivers and is actively recruiting for two more positions. He outlined the driver training process and said subs helped ensure routes were covered this year.
Denison reported that 99.9% of extra trips (athletic events, field trips) were covered and that ridership has declined consistent with enrollment trends. He also said one electric bus is currently in service on a route and another electric bus is in Spokane to receive a diesel-fired heater; two additional buses are slated for purchase in September.
