Governor's office says BDO is administrative partner; lawmakers ask who is being paid and when contracts became public

Richard Grimes confirmed that BDO (including staff formerly from a firm called Horn) is the governor's administrative partner for rolling out the Rural Health Transformation Program and that Mississippi will rely on BDO for procurement and applicant support.
Grimes identified a project manager, Mary Helen Abel, and a senior manager, David Long, as BDO's leads working on the program and said most of the BDO team supporting the project are Mississippi-based. "BDO has informed us that this this very thing has happened in some states that essentially jumped the gun in making some some premature announcements," Grimes said, explaining why the governor's office has coordinated public releases with CMS review. Legislators pressed for the BDO contract date, the amount BDO will be paid and the percentage of program funds allocated to administrative support; Grimes said he had not looked up exact payment figures but would provide information back to the committee chair.
