BZA approves special exception and spacing variance for new cellular tower in Harrison Township

The Miami County Board of Zoning Appeals approved SPEX #156‑26 to place a new wireless communications tower on 29.31 acres and also approved VAR #159‑26 to reduce the separation requirement between towers on the same property in Harrison Township.
Aaron Vaille, representing Jared White and Tillman Infrastructure, told the board the proposed tower would be approximately five feet taller than the existing structure because of the ground elevation and would include a 10‑foot lightning rod. When asked who would handle decommissioning, Vaille replied, "that is AT&T's responsibility." Staff noted the special exception must meet specific construction requirements. The special exception passed all three findings unanimously; the spacing variance passed on the recorded findings and was approved.
