The subcommittee considered House Bill 23 49, and members adopted amendment drafting code 15576 before a vote to advance the bill to full finance. Sponsor Chairlady Littleton told the committee the bill would require the Department of Children's Services to provide a detailed report on the status of childcare agencies licensed or approved by DCS to the speaker, Senate leadership, and the governor by Oct. 1 of each year.
Littleton emphasized the reporting requirement is intended to give the legislature better information about childcare providers across the state and to support oversight. There was no technical dispute in committee and the bill passed the subcommittee by voice vote; clerk reported 13 ayes, 0 nos. The measure will move to full Finance, Ways and Means Committee for further consideration.
