County highway department awards two-year Intac contract, outlines summer projects

Janice Hughes of the Highway Department recommended awarding a two-year contract to Intac not to exceed $28,000 for CCMG Fund Year 2027; Commissioner Mark Horner moved to sign the contract, Commissioner Brenda Weaver seconded and the motion passed 3-0.
Hughes provided an operational update: dust-control work and a calcium application are scheduled weather permitting; tile projects by Miller and Son have been completed in McGrawsville and Miami; an intersection project at 950 East and 400 South is planned to start at the end of the week, weather permitting; two large pipes ordered for Eel River Cemetery Road and 300 North are expected to arrive and be installed after delivery, tentatively in mid-June.
Staff also noted mowing crews are operating across the county and urged motorists to watch for crews. Hughes said the chip box is in the building and final preparations are underway for a gravel-conversion effort planned for early June. She reported continued hiring activity for an Office Manager/ERC manager position and said the person filling her role when she retires will take the ERC course as well.
