Director of Maintenance and Operations LeGrand briefed the board on a long list of summer projects across the district, reporting multiple near-complete and completed items ahead of the start of school.
LeGrand listed accomplishments: the pool auto-fill valve was repaired; sod and landscape fixes were installed at Hansen and Cuesta; interior fire-sprinkler work at high school portables is finished and exterior tie-ins are underway; the Southfields field house is nearly complete pending delivery of a booster pump; furniture and library materials deliveries are underway; stage lighting at Cuesta was converted to LED with a new controller; the Altamont playground turf project finished and the track was resealed and restriped; solar panels were cleaned; bleacher and kitchen-hood inspections were completed; and Wickland playground equipment remains in progress but expected to be ready by the first day of school.
"So this summer, we got the lights fixed," LeGrand said, describing the stage-light replacement as part of broader preparations for performances and classroom use.
Trustees asked whether the district is now responsible for fire abatement on a recently acquired 19-acre parcel off Central; LeGrand confirmed the deed was finalized and the district is now responsible for abatement and maintenance of that land.
LeGrand said the bulk of projects are scheduled to finish before school begins in about three weeks.
