Board approves two provisional-internship hires to fill classroom roles

The Lammersville Joint Unified Board voted to hire two teachers on provisional internship permits (PIP) so they may begin classroom duties while completing credential requirements.
Dr. Nicholas explained that "these two individuals, with board approval can teach in the district" as part of the internship/credentialing pathway; the hires were recommended by staff to fill classroom needs.
Trustee Benita Daniel moved approval and Trustee Sameek Modi seconded; the motion passed with a student preferential vote and five ayes. The board approved the hires of Kim Tran (multiple subject credential, K–8 intervention teacher) and Sharmila Santosh (education specialist for mild-to-moderate and extensive support needs) to serve at Lamersville district sites.
The board’s action allows the new hires to begin work while completing credential requirements under the provisional permit program; Human Resources will complete standard onboarding and document credential progress.
