Board approves Prop 28 expenditure plan to expand music and arts programs

The Lammersville Joint Unified Board of Education voted unanimously to approve the district’s 2025–26 annual expenditure plan for Proposition 28, the Art and Music in Schools Funding Guarantee and Accountability Act.
“This is a requirement by the state for, for them, giving us the money,” said Dr. Nicholas during the staff report explaining that the plan documents how the district will use Prop 28 funds to expand music and arts programming.
Trustee Sameek Modi moved approval and Trustee Lisa Boulet seconded; the student trustee cast a preferential vote and the motion carried with five ayes. The superintendent told the board the district has used Prop 28 funds to expand music programs and that the submitted plan meets regulatory provisions.
The vote finalizes district spending plans tied to Prop 28 resources for the coming year; the board did not amend the plan at the meeting.
