Commissioner McDonald says county arts investment supports jobs and local economy

Commissioner Mary A. McDonald told the board that Montgomery County’s inaugural Arts Forum on April 13 was a sellout with more than 200 attendees, and she credited the event for bringing together artists, venues, arts organizations, businesses and community leaders. McDonald said Montgomery County "invests $1 million each year in the Arts and Cultural District, which creates 4,500 jobs, generates more than $6 million in local tax revenue, and contributes $142 million to the local economy."
McDonald thanked the planning committee and the Office of Strategic Initiative for organizing the forum and asked the board to recognize Jefferson Township Trustee Oscar Young in the audience. The comments were delivered during the commissioners' remarks and were recorded as part of the meeting record.
