Residents press for clarity after OPSB staff report on Sloopy Project

Mary Adkins of Springfield Township asked the Board of Clark County Commissioners whether the Sloopy Project was moving forward and what the countys position might be. Commissioner Sasha L. Rittenhouse said she had read the Ohio Power Siting Board staff report and "the project was not recommended for approval," and that the report contained 64 conditions the staff suggested should be met.
Beau Thompson, Clark Countys chief legal counsel, described the administrative process: during upcoming evidentiary hearings, "all the intervening parties, the county included, will be there every day presenting evidence to the OPSB," and judges will consider the open forum transcript and written comments already on the docket. Residents asked who would present evidence about native burial grounds and the Ohio Department of Natural Resourcess (ODNR) findings; Thompson said the OPSB staff has analyzed historical- and environmental-related materials and that the administrative law judges will rule on admissibility of evidence.
