On Sept. 9 the Hemphill County Commissioners' Court approved the Aug. 31, 2024 budget and financial report and voted to pay several bills. Commissioner Tim Alexander moved to approve the budget and financial report and Commissioner Dawn Webb seconded; the motion carried unopposed. The court approved the computer-generated and hand-stamped bills by motion.
Two invoices from Schafer Services — $145 for an antenna for a deputy sheriff and $200 for contract labor at the sheriff's office — were approved on a motion by Commissioner Dawn Webb, seconded by Commissioner Dale Schafer; the motion carried with Commissioner Schafer recorded as abstaining on that approval. An $83.91 invoice from Alexander Grocery and Deli for coffee for the sheriff's office was approved on a motion by Commissioner Nicholas Thomas; Commissioner Dale Schafer seconded. The minutes note Commissioner Tim Alexander had left the meeting before that vote.
