Hemphill County approves TAC Health renewal amid double-digit medical premium increases for employees

The Hemphill County Commissioners' Court approved renewal of the TAC Health and Employee Benefits Pool plan and rates for 2025 on Sept. 9. Clint Allred told the court the county faces an 8.00% increase in health insurance premiums for 2025, a 3.50% rise in dental premiums and a 4% increase in vision rates; life insurance premiums will remain unchanged. The county is expected to receive an $8,500 surplus from the TAC Risk Management Pool this year.
Commissioner Tim Alexander moved to approve the renewal and Commissioner Dale Schafer seconded; the motion carried without opposition. The court did not change benefit levels as part of the renewal and recorded no votes against the motion.
