Horry County commission announces CLG renewal, marker budget and July 27 meeting

At the end of the meeting staff announced that Horry County’s Certified Local Government status had been renewed and thanked commissioners for their work. The staff member said the county has held CLG status since 1983 and that a county representative had praised the commission’s efforts at a recent meeting.
Staff reminded the commission that the next meeting is scheduled for July 27; commissioners will select meeting dates and officers for the next fiscal year and staff said it will present an updated budget for markers and program appropriation. Commissioners discussed whether marker funds could be reallocated if the Historical Society took over marker installation.
