The Cherokee County Board of Commissioners on Feb. 24 accepted the resignations of three elected Salamanca Township officers and authorized the county to advertise the vacancies.
Commissioner Myra Carlisle Frazier moved to accept the resignations of Brenda Grant (Salamanca Township Trustee), Bob Brassart (Salamanca Township Treasurer) and Waycee Brassart (Salamanca Township Clerk), effective Feb. 20, 2025. Commissioner Jack Garner seconded the motion and it passed unanimously. In a separate motion, Commissioner Frazier moved to place a one‑week advertisement in The News Report for the trustee, treasurer and clerk openings; that motion also passed unanimously.
The board did not record nominations or indicate a timeline for interviews or appointments in the Feb. 24 minutes. County staff will process the advertisement and post the vacancies as authorized. The meeting minutes list the effective resignation date and the publication medium for the vacancy notice but do not specify deadlines for applications or candidate selection procedures.
