Fayette County commissioners appoint inaugural Port Authority board after rescinding earlier resolution

The Fayette County Board of Commissioners adopted a resolution March 16 rescinding the October 20, 2025 resolution that had appointed the initial board of the Fayette County Development & Finance Authority (the Port Authority). The board then appointed five initial directors under authority of Ohio Revised Code Sections 4582.21–4582.71. The appointees and initial terms are: Richard Boggs (one year), Brian Pettit (one year), Andrew Daniels (two years), Scott Baird (three years) and Daniel Dean (four years). The appointments were approved by unanimous vote.
The resolution directs the county's Economic Development Director or the commissioners' designee, in consultation with the initial directors, to give notice of the organizational meeting at which the Port Authority will organize itself under the enabling resolution. Commissioners said the action allows the authority to convene and begin its work consistent with state law. The complete resolution is on file in the commissioners' journal.
