Commissioners authorize part-time hire for Building Department and set utility permit fees

At the request of Building Official Craig Breedlove, the board passed a resolution allowing the Building Department to hire a part-time employee to assist with administrative and logistical duties. The motion was moved by Commissioner Tony Anderson and seconded by Commissioner Donald L. Fleak and passed on roll call.
Separately, on the recommendation of County Engineer Jason Little, the board adopted a detailed fee schedule for utility permits in the county right-of-way effective March 23, 2026. The schedule sets a $30 application fee, establishes charges for new pole lines at $30 per pole, and contains per-linear-foot rates such as $1.00 per lineal foot for sewer and $0.50 per lineal foot for gas, water, electric, cable and fiber work. The schedule distinguishes public-utility versus private-contractor underground crossings and includes rates for overhead attachments and service drops.
Both items passed unanimously and were recorded in the minutes; the action gives county departments authority to proceed with hiring and permits processing under the new fee structure.
