Highway superintendent outlines 2025 paving program and flags CCMG cap; detour speed posting under review

Jerry Ault, Jackson County Highway Superintendent, presented the 2025 paving program and submitted materials for the 2026 CCMG and contract paving program. He reported that paving projects should be finished in about two weeks and that road-widening work is set to begin soon. Ault said the CCMG program changed for 2026 to include a $1,000,000 cap and reminded Commissioners the application window runs Oct. 1–31, 2025.
Ault also reported complaints about drivers not slowing on unofficial detours and asked whether the county could post speed limits on those routes; the board agreed to look into the request and discussed a possible 45 mph limit. Commissioners complimented the highway department on completed paving work.
