Karla Hubbard of the Jackson County Health Department asked the Commissioners for permission to sign a reimbursable grant from the Indiana Breast and Cervical program to promote breast and cervical cancer screenings for uninsured and underinsured residents. The grant request was for $8,500 to cover promotion, mileage and translation services; the board approved the grant 3-0.
Hubbard framed the request as addressing an identified local need to increase screening access for uninsured individuals. The minutes show County Attorney Susan Bevers received a copy of the contract for review, and the board recorded unanimous approval to proceed.
