Council advances MOU to support Uncommon Friends Foundation with roughly $109,000 for summer support

The Fort Myers City Council agreed to consider and moved to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Uncommon Friends Foundation to provide temporary financial support after the nonprofit was unable to use the Burrows Home for events.
"They've requested a little over $27,230 a month during the support period beginning June, July, August and September... which would be a total of $108,937.32," City Manager Lawing told council while summarizing the foundation's request.
Councilmember Burson moved the item and Councilmember Bonk seconded. The item was presented without additional staff presentation and, after brief discussion, was approved by the council with no opposition recorded on the floor.
The MOU is intended to be a short-term measure to help the foundation continue programming while the Burrows Home is unavailable. The council did not attach additional conditions during the recorded vote.
