Board approves two director hires recommended by interim superintendent

Director Dorsey presented staff report H3, recommending Malcolm Jones as director of academics and Barry Trudeau as director of facilities, both with an effective date of Aug. 15, 2026. Dorsey said candidates were posted, screened and interviewed by panels that included principals, central-office staff and the superintendent. Superintendent Sanders confirmed he participated in interviews and recommended both candidates.
Trustees discussed the need to approve hires before school starts so recommended employees could give notice to current employers. A motion to approve staff report H3 was made, seconded and carried on a roll-call vote. Secretary Triplett called the roll; all members present voted "Yes" and the motion carried.
Why it matters: the board's approval puts two senior operational and instructional leaders in place before the start of school, which the superintendent and trustees said is necessary for on-time planning and to support a fall launch of the academic and facilities work Sanders described earlier.
