Planning staff presented updates to the Imagine 2040 draft industrial corridors and summarized public feedback gathered so far.
The presenter (S5) said the project is in step 6 of the process and that the county is in a 30‑day public comment period; staff reported 102 survey responses to date. The suitability model considered wetlands and flood zones (weighted highest), roads, residential areas and rail, then excluded conservation lands, FEMA and supplemental flood zones and major residential projects when refining corridor candidates. Public comments compiled by staff included concerns about loss of rural character, wetland impacts and traffic; supporters said corridors could create jobs and allow planned industrial growth. Staff showed revisions to the draft map that removed some areas designated for scenic or conservation protection and limited others to light industrial rather than heavy. A follow‑up open house is scheduled for July 16 from 5:30–7:00 p.m. in the same room for further public input.
Chair opened public input and closed it after no speakers; no action was taken at this workshop. Staff encouraged residents to use the QR code and survey to submit comments.
