Committee members reviewed a range of infrastructure and connectivity proposals for the Candies Creek corridor. Cameron said the City's FY27 budget includes funding to create an under-interstate connection to Fletcher Park; developer-led work is underway to connect to the new Willow Creek subdivision, and FY29 includes a planned connection from Fletcher to Harrison Pike.
Near-term facility items include expanding Candies Lane parking to 56 spaces (FY27), expanding Freewill Road parking (FY27) and investigating sidewalks along Freewill Road. Staff also noted plans to connect North Jim Sharp Park to the Trails at Freewill in FY29 and to rehabilitate the Back Nine/Nature Trail in FY27. Cameron said he met with a representative from the Johnson Foundation and an application for funding to support the Fletcher connection is forthcoming.
