The Stephens County Planning Commission voted Jan. 7 to recommend rezoning roughly 0.479 acres of parcel 042 C 026 (listed for CMH Homes Incorporated, 3206 Highway 17 Alternate, Toccoa) from Commercial General to Residential Single to permit combining it with adjacent parcels for residential use.
Staff told the commission the change would align the small frontage piece with surrounding residential zoning and represented a “low intensive use of the land,” and recommended approval. During the public‑hearing period, a participant supporting the request said the rezoning "would simplify [drainage] for everybody" and reduce the risk of future disputes if ownership changed. After the hearing the commission moved, seconded and approved the rezoning recommendation by voice vote. The planning commission will forward the recommendation to the Board of Commissioners for final action.
