Joe and Bob Wietharn reported on a July 15 meeting with KDOT District 2 Manager Brent Therstriep, who "emphasized safety as a key factor in future grant applications." The Wietharns and Interim Highway Administrator Jeff Germann recommended using an experienced engineering firm and noted that a 50 percent local cash match improves grant competitiveness.
On procurement, the Board accepted JP Electric's quote of $665 to install 18 light fixtures (JP Electric: $665; TS Power, LLC: $2,000; Advance Electric, LLC: $1,530) on a motion by Commissioner Mayo, seconded by Commissioner Carlson; the motion passed unanimously. Mr. Germann also reported that the department has started chip sealing and will continue that work this week.
