Commission denies front-yard building variance for Richardson Street property

Multiple neighbors and clients testified in favor of the applicant’s grooming and boarding business, but commissioners stressed that placement of the building on the driveway raised safety and access concerns.
A committee member moved to deny the building placement in the front yard while seeking to accommodate the business use through relocation of the structure; the motion to deny item 3 carried by voice vote. The commission advised the applicant that locating the structure to the side or rear of the lot, consistent with ordinance setbacks, would avoid the need for a front-yard variance.
