The Scott Valley Unified School District Board of Trustees completed its annual organizational meeting at a Dec. 12, 2024 regular session at Scott Valley Junior High School.
Superintendent Micheline Miglis administered the oath of office to Jason Finley (Area 1) and Jim Harris (Area 2) for terms beginning Dec. 13, 2024 and ending Dec. 8, 2028. The board then unanimously elected Brandon Fawaz as board president for calendar year 2025 and elected Sandy Hogge as clerk/vice president; Miglis was appointed board secretary.
Each organizational motion passed on a 5–0 vote. Motions and seconds were recorded in the minutes; for example, the motion to elect the president was moved by Jennifer Thackeray and seconded by Jim Harris before the 5–0 vote. The board also selected representatives for standing committees: Sandy Hogge to the Leave Review Committee; Jennifer Thackeray to the Scott Valley Scholarships Committee; and Jim Harris and Jason Finley as LCAP committee representatives.
The organizational items were procedural and approved without recorded dissent. Superintendent Miglis closed the district updates portion of the meeting by wishing attendees "a marvelous holiday."
