County tentatively awards AWOS contract, authorizes FAA grant paperwork

The Clark County Board of Commissioners on April 21 tentatively awarded the Automated Weather Observing System (AWOS III-P) base bid to Efraimson Electric, Inc., of Bryant, South Dakota, for $229,424.50. The award is contingent on receipt of an FAA grant offer; the motion to approve the tentative award was made by Commissioner Terry Schlagel and seconded by Commissioner Francis Hass and carried unanimously.
The board separately authorized the commission chairman to sign the FAA grant application and the FAA grant offer electronically and to sign construction contract documents as needed for the project on a motion by Commissioner David Spieker. Brooke Edgar of Helms and Associates also reviewed the airport Capital Improvement Plan, outlining suggested future improvements, estimated costs and timeframes and discussing funding options for the airport’s future projects.
No opposition or public comments were recorded during the AWOS bid presentation and the actions were taken pending the federal grant offer.
