At the workshop, staff said the balanced budget assumes the fire assessment rate remains unchanged from the last two years, producing an estimated $622,339 in revenue. Bridget explained the assessment is $50 per residence and commercial or institutional charges are calculated based on square footage.
"The balanced budget ... includes the fire assessment based on holding the fire assessment rate constant from what it was in the last 2 years," Bridget said. She added staff plans to set aside fire assessment and fire impact fees over a three-year period so the ladder truck purchase can be accomplished without issuing substantial additional debt.
