City staff to get quotes for City Hall HVAC and fencing; Harvest Foods requests expansion space
Summary
Public Works Director Mauricio Romero asked for quotes to repair ($3,000) or fully replace ($12,500) City Hall's HVAC system and reported a need for a pickup and fencing around Lion's Park irrigation; Mayor advised consideration of whether to retain the old library property after a proposal from Harvest Foods, whose owner Josh Fanning said expansion requires 7,000–9,000 sq. ft. more parking.

Public Works Director Mauricio Romero told the council the City Hall HVAC system needs repairs estimated at about $3,000 or complete replacement at roughly $12,500; Council asked staff to gather replacement quotes for consideration. Romero also said the Public Works crew needs a pickup with hauling capacity for city equipment and that permanent fencing is required around the new irrigation at Lion's Park; council discussed whether barbed wire should be allowed at the top of the fence and asked staff to check the ordinance.
In the Mayor’s report, the Mayor noted a proposal from the Fanning family (owners of Harvest Foods) and two letters from the public about the old library parcel. Josh Fanning said the store would like to add 7,000–9,000 square feet to the existing store but needs additional property for parking to support expansion; the Mayor asked council to consider whether to retain the library property as discussions continue.
Why it matters: city facility repairs, vehicle needs and park fencing require budget consideration, and a potential sale or retention decision for the old library parcel could enable local business expansion and affect downtown parking and land use.
Next steps: staff will collect HVAC replacement quotes, review barbed-wire ordinance language, and report back; council will continue deliberations on the old library property.
