Scott Erickson, chair of the Iron County Forestry & Parks Committee, opened the March 17 meeting and announced he is not running for re-election after 13 years of service. Erickson reviewed major projects during his tenure, including responses to flooding, Saxon Harbor rebuilding, park facility additions and timber-market fluctuations, and thanked committee members, Forestry staff and WDNR personnel for their efforts.
Eric Peterson, Forest Administrator, presented plaques to Erickson and to Bill Thomas, who has served 21 years on the committee. The meeting record shows the committee approved routine business items and several resolutions before adjourning; several new members will join the committee following the upcoming election, and the next meeting was not scheduled.
