New Winn Parish schools superintendent introduces himself to Police Jury

Dr. Troy Bell, the newly installed Winn Parish School Board Superintendent, introduced himself to the Police Jury on Oct. 20 and said he is in his eighth week on the job. Bell told jurors he has been meeting people across the district, riding buses and visiting classrooms to familiarize himself with staff and students as he takes on full superintendent duties after a transition period with the former superintendent, Al Simmons.
“he is in his 8th week in Winn Parish,” Bell said as he described early outreach efforts. Bell said the district’s schools face aging air-conditioning equipment and building needs and expressed a willingness to work with the Police Jury to find ways to help the schools. President Frank McLaren welcomed Bell and said the Jury would work with the School Board where possible.
