Jurors approve travel authorizations, reappointment and routine financial reports
Summary
The jury authorized travel for department heads (4–1 vote), reappointed Larry Freeman to the Audubon Regional Library board, approved a $200 travel warrant for Justice Alfloyd Muse, granted a special event permit for March 28, and approved checks and financial reports including $281,852.33 in checks written since the last meeting.
The St. Helena Parish Police Jury approved a package of administrative and financial items during its Feb. 24, 2026 meeting.
On travel and training, jurors voted 4–1 to authorize department heads Sharonda Brown, Brannon Barnes, Edward Galmon and Roderick Matthews to attend upcoming PJAL and NACo conferences and training sessions; President Quanika H. Muse, Willie Morgan, Ryan Byrd and Doug Watson voted in favor, while Jule C. Wascom voted no. The minutes record that Roderick Matthews’ attendance must be approved by the Police Jury President.
Jurors also reappointed Larry Freeman to the Audubon Regional Library board effective Feb. 2026, approved Travel Warrant #1311 for Alfloyd Muse ($200.00), and approved a Special Event Permit submitted by Bernart Jackson for an event March 28, 2026 at 222 Trailride Lane, Greensburg, LA; the minutes state required documentation was received and SHPSO security approved. The Purchasing Agent’s requisitions were approved; jurors approved checks written after the last meeting totaling $281,852.33 and acknowledged monthly budget-to-actual reports prepared by Sibley & Newell, CPA.
Jurors also approved the employees accruable benefits report and the Fuelman report. A committee meeting was scheduled for March 12, 2026, and clerical FYI items and conference deadlines were announced.
