Neighbor urges Brook Haven field to be locked at night; board to agendize fencing and facility master plan

A Sebastopol neighbor told the Board the Brook Haven field is being used overnight and may violate noise rules; the Board said the fencing question will be taken up when agendized at a future meeting.
At the Sept. 17 Board meeting a resident urged the district to address overnight use and lighting at Brook Haven and asked the Board to consider a lockable fence to secure the field.
"The school is not following the City or State noise ordinances," said Jay Goldin, who also asked the district to consider a fence to lock the field at night for safety and to reduce disturbances to neighbors. He said people are still on the field "at all hours of the night." The visitor asked that safety lights be re-aimed away from adjacent homes.
Board President Deborah Drehmel acknowledged the Facility Master Plan had previously been shared as an information item and said the topic of fencing was best handled when it is put on a future meeting agenda so trustees can discuss costs, operational controls and community input. No immediate action or timeline was set.
The Facilities update at the meeting also noted that a new bell system is being installed at Park Side and then will be moved to Brook Haven.
