Board grants one-time beer-and-wine permit for cultural-center reception

A representative from the arts department, identified in the meeting as Kyle, requested permission for the Cultural Center to sell beer and wine at a gallery reception on Thursday, Aug. 6, from 5–7 p.m. Board members noted the Cultural Center sits within the Dora District and that the organizer would need to apply for a temporary-event permit and add the event to insurance.
The board approved the single-event request by voice vote and asked the applicant to return if they sought longer-term permission; staff noted that future requests could be bundled into routine insurance coverage at the start of the year. "We were advised to just ask for August and then come back the next month and ask possibly for a prolonged period," Kyle said.
The board directed staff to treat this as a temporary-event approval contingent on application and insurance filing.
