Chloe Villa, chairperson for the annual Kids Day, asked the board for permission to use sidewalks around the downtown Jasper square for the 32nd Kids Day on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. She described the event as an entrepreneurship activity for K–12 children and said past events attracted many booths and visitors.
The board discussed keeping streets open while placing booths on sidewalks to reduce disruption to local businesses. After confirming logistics and potential minor closures in quadrants, the board approved the request by voice vote. "Keeping the streets open, will help with traffic, and they can see that there's an event going on," Villa said, explaining the benefits for foot traffic and nearby shops.
The board asked staff to coordinate cones and limited parking closures and to provide guidance if the event grows in future years.
