County department heads used a morning session at the April 8 retreat to introduce themselves and summarize their departments' biggest challenges and short-term needs. Presenters included Public Works Director Brenda Mackay, EMS Director Danita Schroeder, IT Director Mike Leiker, HR Coordinator Jennifer Taylor, Health Director Melissa Miller, Appraiser Eugene Rupp, Solid Waste Director Justin Craig and others. Staff framed the discussion around what "rallying" looks like across departments and what support they need from the commissioners.
The staff discussion was intended to help commissioners and the county administration identify operational priorities for the coming year and to inform the capital and operating budget conversations later in the day. No formal policy decisions were made during the introductions; the session functioned as a listening and planning exercise to prepare staff and commissioners for subsequent budget- and program-level discussions.
