Police Jury adopts ordinance setting speed limits on Water Tank Road

The Lincoln Parish Police Jury adopted an ordinance on March 10 establishing speed limits on Water Tank Road.
The ordinance, added to the Code of Ordinances as Sec. 42-36, sets a 45 miles-per-hour limit on the segment between La. Hwy 3061 and Fourth Street and a 35 miles-per-hour limit between Fourth Street and La. Hwy 146. The Jury voted 12 to 0 to adopt the ordinance, and Section 2 requires that the new limits be posted with appropriate highway speed limit signs.
The speed-limit recommendation came from the Public Works Committee, which also recommended advertising for bids for asphalt materials. The ordinance states it will be "in full force and effect from and after its promulgation." The unanimous roll call for the ordinance was recorded as YEAS: Williams, Ludley, Lord, Cranford, Hunt, Scriber, Pullin, Garriga, Henderson, Melton, Richards, and Straughter.
The change affects local traffic enforcement and will require sign installation along the referenced stretches of Water Tank Road; the Jury did not set an effective date beyond the ordinance language that it takes effect upon promulgation.
