Police Jury approves Geaux Jobs participation, job hires and CDL/heavy-equipment training enrollments

The St. Helena Parish Police Jury on March 24 approved participation with Geaux Jobs LWDA 20 to secure 10 temporary laborer positions—six to be assigned to district trash-pickup crews and four to the Maintenance Department. Each position is limited to 1,040 hours at $13.00 per hour, and candidates must be assessed and approved by the Geaux Jobs counselor before hire.
The Jury also approved contingent hires subject to drug screening and physicals: Patrick Sanders as Road District 1 Supervisor at $21.00 per hour; Kevin Selders, Driver at $18.00 per hour; and Benjamin Brumfield Sr., Road District 3 Laborer at $14.00 per hour. James Tidwell was approved to transfer from Driver to Laborer at $17.00 per hour.
Additionally, jurors authorized named employees to attend CDL and Heavy Equipment Operator classes beginning April 13, 2026, and approved attendance at several conferences (LEMC May 4–7, NOBCo May 7–11, NACo July 17–20; GFOA & OPAO dates TBD).
