Scout Motors addressed the commission as part of public comment on an application for distributor/dealer licensure. Sim Singh, director of state government affairs for Scout Motors, said the company is Delaware-incorporated, will engineer vehicles in Detroit and build them in South Carolina, and will sell directly to customers under the Scout make.
Singh told commissioners that Scout has not granted any third-party dealers the right to sell Scout vehicles and that the company is a separate legal entity from Volkswagen Group of America. He said Scout will promptly supply the additional materials staff requested and is eager to proceed with licensure and investment in Tennessee.
Commissioners took no final action on Scout's application at the meeting and directed staff to send the company the written questions compiled by the program so Scout representatives can appear prepared at the October meeting.
