Consultants flag large proposed increase to storm drain impact fee

Consultants reported the storm drain impact fee is calculated on a per-developed-acre basis and that after required credits the proposed maximum storm drain fee would increase substantially compared with the City’s current fee.
Susan Becker acknowledged the proposed change is large compared to the current roughly $121 fee and said the consultants would provide additional explanation of the drivers behind the increase. "The proposed maximum storm drain impact fee increases substantially compared to the current fee," she told the Council.
Council members noted the current fee appears unusually low and that the update process is intended to identify where fees no longer reflect infrastructure costs. Consultants will provide additional detail on project costs, credit assumptions and comparables as part of outreach and the technical appendices.
